Spin doctor

I purchased a Toyota Auris 1.6 MMT in March 2007 and have generally been pleased with its performance. I only drive about 4,000 miles per year and it does what "it says on the box". However, now and again after driving and the engine being properly warmed up etc., if I need to brake and reduce my speed when I put my foot on the accelerator again (not too harshly) the revs go up and up to 4,000rpm before eventually the engine "finds" the correct level of revs and assumes the correct level for the new speed. But it is a bit alarming. When I bring this to the attention of my local service guys they do not seem to have any real sensible answer to this. Is it a problem? Should I be more persistent and ask for a definite answer?

If that happens, I guess the clutch temporarily remains disengaged, so it's a fault with the autoclutch actuator.
