Well scrubbed

I have a Volvo V70 (new shape), but, as with the old model, I and other owners are only getting 10k-12k miles from the front tyres. I do not drive like a lunatic, nor do I accelerate harshly except for safety. I can only assume therefore that this is the norm for the V70. Do you have any comments on this please? The tyres fitted to my car are Michelin Primacy HP 225/50/17 which I believe are good tyres but a little expensive at £200 per tyre. I would like to replace them with a cheaper tyre which will last a little longer if there is such a tyre but I do not want to buy tyres that are going to be noisier on the road as these Michelins are quite quiet really. Do you have any ideas as I would value your comments?

The Hampshire traffic police were getting 7,000 out of the fronts in their T5 versions of the original V70. Then their fleet manager specified autos, and the miles went up to 12,000. So it is normal. And yes, Primacy HP are the best tyres. But a pothole or a speed hump might have knocked the alignment out slightly so it's worth the expense of a '4 way laser alignment' at a branch of www.alignmycar.co.uk You might be able to go down a wheel size to 16” and fir Michelin Energy tyres instead of Primacy HP.
