How long does leasing a car take to arrange?

Can you tell me the step by step process for leasing a new car? I would like to test drive the cars I'm interested in, for instance. Can I do that? I'm interested in the length of the process as well because I'm starting a new job on 3rd May 2021. I would like to have arranged this all by then. Thank you.

Most people who lease a car do so via an online broker, who won't be in a position to offer a test drive. Have you considered PCP (personal contract purchase) instead? Car dealers will be more open to this and, if they have a car in stock, you could be driving away within a week. We'd recommend booking a test drive appointment with a dealer (or multiple dealers) selling cars you're interested in. As well as demonstrating the car, they'll be able to talk you through the finance options available. Alternatively, consider visiting a car supermarket. These have a huge variety of nearly-new cars (occasionally including ex-demonstrator models with only a few hundred miles on the clock). This can be a good way of sitting in a wide variety of cars and narrowing down what you're looking for. Not all are offering test drives at the minute, though, but they will have experts on hand to discuss finance.
