How can I fix a fault boot strut?

The boot lid on my 2011 Hyundai won't stay in the raised position. I suspect the hydraulic struts need replacing. Is this a job I can do myself or should I take it to a garage?

These boot lid struts are usually relatively easy to replace by yourself, often just needing a screwdriver to prise the old struts away from a small ball socket. However you will need an extra pair of hands to keep the boot up while the struts are detached.
