How do I renew my driving licence at 70?
I will need to renew my driving license at age 70. My current license enables me to drive a manual or auto, 12 seater minibus etc.
A) How soon before expiry should I apply to avoid being without a license in case of processing delays in the DVLA?

The process varies depending on the specific entitlements on your current licence. If you have a D1 minibus entitlement which you wish to retain, you can find the details on how to do so on the government website here: www.gov.uk/renew-lorry-bus-coach-licence/45-or-over
If not, you can use the online system here: www.gov.uk/renew-driving-licence-at-70 within 90 days of your 70th birthday. The process should take a week, but you are still entitled to drive even if your licence is with the DVLA as long as:
You have the support of your doctor to continue driving
You had a valid licence
You only drive under the conditions of the previous licence
Your application is less than a year old
Your last licence wasn’t revoked or refused for medical reasons
You’re not currently disqualified
You weren’t disqualified as a high risk offender on or after 1 June 2013
