Are electric cars a potential fire hazard?

When driven on to a petroleum forecourt close to the pumps, do EVs potentially represent a possible fire hazard? .

The risk of fire in EVs is somewhat distorted by the fact that it is more difficult to extinguish a fire in an EV compared to a conventional car, but the reality is that an EV is less likely to catch fire in the first place than a petrol or diesel car.

Allowing for the fact that more than half of vehicle fires are caused by arson, a study conducted by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency concluded that EVs are 20 times less likely to catch fire than petrol or diesel cars.
