A car for retirement

My retirement date is now very close and, after having a company car for the last 30 year,s I will now have to buy my own new car.

My current car is an Audi A4 2.0 TDI. It is 3 years old with 50,000 miles on the clock. I did consider buying it, but the pedals are too far way for my wife and she always has a bad back after driving it.

So with that ruled out I am looking for a comfortable car with integrated sat nav and Bluetooth.

In retirement I will be doing approximately 8,000 miles a year, which will include 12+ trips over 300 miles.

I need enough space for my golf clubs and trolley and space in the back for the grandchildren's car seats.

I was thinking of the New Ford Focus Estate.

My budget is £17000/20000 and I would be pleased if you could comment on the Ford Focus or suggest any alternatives.

A new Focus is good, but belt cam, of course, and for long term lowish mileage retirement I don't recommend a diesel. Also worth looking at an Astra Sport Tourer which is great looking, a very practical design and can be bought with an excellent and efficient 140PS 1.4 chain cam petrol turbo engine.
