Nissan Micra locking problems

I can't unlock a Nissan Micra that has not been used for nearly a year. It won't unlock with either of the keys we have either remotely or manually (via the passenger side lock). The battery is undoubtedly flat but I would have thought it would have opened manually with the passenger side door lock ? Would the batteries in the keys themselves need to be 100% ok to use the key in the manual lock?

We would have thought that you could have opened the passengers door lock manually. Is it possible to gain access through the rear tail gate lock?
Other than that you could try gaining access through either the front grill (so you can release the bonnet.or jack the front of the vehicle up and again gain access to the bonnet release.
