Auris fuel economy
You stated that you were able to return 62.3mpg on a 300 mile trip in father in laws Toyota Auris hybrid. We have had ours since September and can only manage 49mpg. We are disappointed with this return and have always considered, for a lot less money, a diesel could have matched these figures.
I have also thought that realistically 49 mpg is a good return from a 1800cc petrol engine. Can you make any suggestions on how we could get 62.3mpg? Both my wife and I drive, so some differing styles. I do fill in your real life consumption.

Drive it more sympathatically. Use EV more. Obviously use the best fuel (Shell V-Power). But my dad is still getting 63mpg on his relatively local runs.

Decent combination of ride and handling that might suit some people better than a harder sprung Golf or a Civic. A few inches taller than a Golf of Focus so easier to get in and out.
