High mile E-Class or low mile Vectra?

I was thinking of buying a 57/08 Vectra 1.9CDTi with less than 30k miles on the clock - in the region of £7-£8k.

If insurance premium is not an issue, should I go for a 56/07 Mercedes-Benz E-class estate with 100k on the clock instead?

I will be doing roughly 18k miles annually (8k motorway + 10k london)

The E-Class could be more reliable largely because the Vectra has a disaster zone of an engine.

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
