Regarding the email from DR, my wife had a recent accident when moving from middle to inside lane and brushed a car underpassing. She was caught out in the blind spot. My Insurers (in India) said it was her fault, but when I produced the Highway Code on the subject they agreed 50/50 with the other Insurers, which I found entirely reasonable. I did spend 50 years in the Insurance profession.

This is the most common form of motorway crash. It is not caused by ‘undertaking’. It is caused by lack of observation and anticipation: www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/legal--motoring-advice/2.../ Drivers move from an outer to an inner lane without looking. They usually hit a car pulling out from lane 1 to lane 2 in order to pass a truck. Many drivers simply do not have the common sense to anticipate that a car closing on a truck will want to overtake it.
