Replacing a Touran's turbo

I have a Volkswan Touran 57 plate, went into the garage as fault light appeared on dashboard and went limp mode. Garage replaced sensor in Janaury 12, problem still not solved so went back to different Volkswagen garage and they have now kept it for a week and replaced the same sensor as replaced in Janauary.

Garage now telephoned to say that it is now the turbo that needs replacing. The car has always been serviced by Volkswagon/Audio group and has 61,000 miles on the clock. Have contacted VW customer service but not helpful, is it acceptable for a turbo to go on a 4 year old family car and also how do I know that is the really the problem especially as they have replaced a part that had just been replaced.

It could do. Depends how the car was used. If you live at the top of a steep hill, that is the worst thing for a turbo. Has to work hard and doesn't get cooled enough. Needs to be idled for a minute or two. If you switch off straight away you destroy the bearing.
