Replacing a Mondeo ST220 with an XF?

Back in 2005, you recommended a Mondeo ST220 to replace my company car. I have been really pleased with it, but it is now nearly 7 years old, the grandsons are bigger, and I feel the need for a change.

I had budgeted £20k including trade-in but the only car that really attracts is the Jaguar XF, and for that I could only obtain a 2008 model and it hardly seems worthwhile changing to another oldish car.

Is the only alternative to up my budget and go for a 2011 model or am I missing an option - other than run the ST220 into the ground?

We do a fair number of short 3-12 mile runs and probably half a dozen 800-1000 mile runs a year so I'm not convinced diesel is the right choice although this seems to be the main engine in the XF.

Jaguar XF 3.0V6s didn't sell well, so come a lot cheaper than the diesels (but don't have all the sport drive suspension options). That's one option. Jaguar stopped making it at least a year ago, but still put the engines into XJLs bound for China.
