Parking charge notices
I know there have been a lot of questions regarding parking charge notices issued by private parking companies. I overstayed in my local Asda by 25 mins over the free 3 hours.
Usually I park in Asda, have lunch in a pub before returning to do my grocery shopping. However, This time I forgot about the 3 hours limit and got a charge of £60 by TCP which reduces to £30 if paid earlier. Reading through many posts I get the feeling to ignore and don't pay. Surely even £30 for 25 mins overstay is unreasonable.
Do you agree? If so, what shall I say to appeal? I know I broke the rules on the notice but your forum is telling me ignore as its not a criminal offence and it rarely goes to Court! Basically, I don't want to pay and even I wanted to stay longer I didn't have this option as its all done by cameras.
So should I wait and ignore all letters of threat and Court action? Or I write back and say I wont pay stupid sum for 25 mins and offer £5 for example?
Funny thing is if everyone ignored it because they can't do much then TCP should have been out of business by now.

The chances of court action are very slight. But the fact is you did breach the terms of your parking contract. You parked in Asda's carpark and went somewhere else. In this case I think you should pay.
