Repairing ABS on a Mazda 2

I have a Mazda 2 sport, 12500 miles, 4yrs 5months old (2008) which has the dreaded DSC warning light problem.

Put in for diagnostics, told by dealer needs new ABS pump (error code C0044) at cost of £1800. Mazda and dealer only prepared to offer 10% disc each towards cost of replacement.

I'm looking at the option of sending the part off to ECU testing for repair as an alternative. Would this be a viable solution do you think? Part would be repaired and covered with lifetime guarantee.

If the problem is the notorious ATE Teves Mk 60 ABS/ESP module brake pressure sensor valve then yes, www.ecutesting.com. www.sinspeed.co.uk claims to be able to make the modification for £225, all in (plus the cost of removing and re-fitting the unit).
