Remapping a Honda Civic

I recently met a man who has the same car as me, a Honda Civic 2.2 CDTi (10 Reg). He had had it remapped and said that he now is able to achieve 60mpg on a run. Do you think that this is a sensible idea and above all would it damage the car in any way?

Depends on the quality of the remap. But you have to tell your insurer and the corresponding increase in premium may wipe out any savings on fuel.
