New Sportage - can this high fuel consumption be right?

I have just bought a new Sportage 1.6 GDi 2 based on the excellent reviews.

However after two weeks have noticed that the fuel consumption never gets over 35 mpg. The manual states 37mpg urban, 42mpg mixed and 47mpg ex urban.

I have driven along motorway in sixth at fifty but the most I have got is 35.

When talking to Kia they say it could be my driving style or the car bedding in?

I have only been driving for forty years and have never before had MPG problems.

I bought the car as it is labeled ECO. Can you help?
