Tax hypocrisy - do you agree?

On the subject of the road fund do you have a view as to where it is going?

I'm not a fan of road tolls for existing roads.

I feel it is now highly unfair with owners of new efficient cars paying little where owners of older cars are paying heavily. We all use the same roads.

I'm all in favour of efficiency however that is paid for at the pumps and it is an environmental falsehood to ignore the energy associated with creating a car. It is not green to throw away old cars before their time, for a new efficient car. One study I read actually looked at whole life energy costs and rated a 4.0 litre Wrangler Jeep less energy demanding than a Toyota Prius - taking ALL factors into account.

I feel the road fund should be scrapped and added to fuel costs - with rural petrol stations given a tax break - to help rural drivers. This would halt avoidance - to the advantage of all honest people, levy foreign users for use of the roads and payment would be commensurate with road usage and fuel usage.
