Volkswagen Touran DMF issue

We have a Volkswagen Touran 2007 SE TDI 105 1.9. Had it for 10 months bought second hand from a useless garage and had nothing but bother with it.

It broke down on Christmas Eve and we had to be towed home. When in neutral the engine starts fine, once in gear the drive shafts don't turn but make a noise, not a grinding noise, but a 'moving' noise. Any ideas?

There is no warranty with the garage as this was only for 3 months but I have read about DPF(?) problems on Tourans and that Volkswagen are taking some liability for these? But don't know how to go about looking into this.

More likely to be a failed (separated) dual, mass flywheel than anything else. Expensive. Mr Clutch is usually the cheapest to fix this.
