Ford Focus failure caused a serious accident

Have you had any reports on the catastrophic failure of rear stub axles on the mark two Ford Focus? Mine went last Friday, causing me to roll the car and leading to it being written off.

Conveniently this happened 10 days after a dealer's 3 month warranty expired - can I claim against the dealer as clearly this fault was in the vehicle when i brought it.
