Terrible fuel consumption on the Vauxhall Meriva - is this right?

I am thinking of buying an auto diesel Vauxhall Meriva, but the consumption in your real mpg list is very high. Is this report the result of lots of drivers and therefore accurate, or only one or two hard drivers?

Absolutely accurate. That is the average that drivers are actually getting from the car. But they have just brought out a 120PS 1.4 petrol auto that will probably be a lot better to drive and no less economical.
