Outstanding finance case with HPI - can this be right?

How long it takes to HPI company to update their database?

I just bought a Ford Fiesta from a Ford dealer. After I paid I did HPI check which shows that car has outstanding finance on it.

The dealer said that case was settled and I shouldn't worry about HPI, because they didn't updated information yet. The dealer said also that even if there was outstanding finance they would be liable for it because as a dealer they cannot sell cars with HPI record.

Is it right or I should request some written confirmation?
