Have back problems and need a car that will accommodate

I have to buy a new car for work. I currently drive an Audi A3 (I have covered 106,000 miles in the last three and a half years), but suffer back problems and find the car uncomfortable.

I am only getting reimbursed 16 pence a mile and am not sure what car to go for, can you advise?

I have tried the Volvo XC60, which I like (but I am worried about fuel consumption) but cannot get a drive of the BMW X3 as it has a lead time of six months.

I can't understand why you want an SUV. Surely an MPV that is easy to get in and out of is a better answer?

I'd recommend a Mazda 5 1.6d TS2, a Ford C-Max, a Renault Scenic, a Toyota Verso. There's nothing wrong with an XC60, but if you are stuck on the idea of an SUV, then the most comfortable is the Honda CR-V. It must be on 17-inch or 18-inch wheels with some rubber between the rims and the road. 19-inch wheels will do your back no good at all.
