Toyota Yaris - Hybrid or petrol?

I recently changed my 10 year old Mercedes C-Class for a new Toyota Yaris 1.0 VVR-I Edition, purely on the grounds of economy, such as no road tax in the first year and less to spend at the fuel pump.

I am very pleased with the car; however, I remember reading on your website that you only recommend the hybrid version of this car. Could you please point out any problems that I may encounter. I have it on interest free monthly payments with the option to either walk away or purchase after three years.

"No road tax in the first year" is completely irrelevant because when you buy a new car VED is included in the price anyway. All you need to be concerned about is the amount of tax from the 2nd year onwards. For me, the hybrid works best as a car, being free of any VED or congestion charges and actually capable of the promised 80mpg because I've done it.
