Is there a cheap way of repairing this ABS fault on my Volkswagen Golf?

My Volkswagen Golf now has the ESP light on all the time. My garage tells me that this is a fault with the ABS system and is a common fault. The car is six years old and has done 26,241 miles. I have been quoted £1500 for the part and I am rather shocked, as it will not pass future MoTs with the light on as it is now.

The ESP pressure sensor can be repaired for £225 by extracting the ABS/ESP module from the car and sending it to www.sinspeed.co.uk, or, for a little more money, to www.ecutesting.co.uk. This is now the way most VAG dealers fix the problem and an honest dealer would have suggested it to you.
