Which is more reliable - the 2005-on Honda Civic or Audi A4?

I need a reliable diesel to replace my Vectra which is starting to become costly at just 85,000 miles. I had similar reliability issues with my 2002 Mondeo some years back at around 90,000 miles. I am now looking to purchase either an Audi A4 or Honda Civic (2005 model onward) with around 80-90,000 miles on the clock for around £7000. Which would be the better bet for reliability?

Both the A4 and Honda Civic are well built and reliable, but the Civic is probably marginally better at this age. Here's our information on the A4: honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/audi/a4-b7-2005/?section...d And the Civic: honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/honda/civic-2006/?sectio...d

The Civic is a newer design and we've not heard of any major problems with it
