Honda Civic - keep or sell?

We need two cars in our household. We currently have a 2002 Volkswagen Polo and a 2003 Honda Civic Type-S with 80k and 150k miles respectively. Our intended strategy is to have a city run around and a longer distance car.

The Polo was recently involved in an accident and written off and I'm a little concerned that the Civic may be about to face a number of large bills as it is still on the original clutch and the suspension bushes are wearing. The air con has also stopped working.

I therefore have 2 questions:
1. What approximate value would you give to the Polo?
2. Would you suggest simply replacing the Polo (keeping the Honda) or using the opportunity to change both cars?

The Civic Type S is an excellent car. 160PS chain cam engine, basically the same as the Type Rs but under less stress. Could go on another 50k - 100k, but you're right that a clutch and suspension bushes are likely to be needed soon and that could cost £500 - £1000.

The Polo might have been worth £1500 - £2000. No a/c in the Type S isn't good news. I'd try to find a newer Type S and get a 2001 - 2002 Yaris 1.0 to replace the Polo.
