What's causing a lack of power from my 260,000-mile 2002 Skoda Octavia?

I have a 2002 Skoda Octavia automatic 1.9 TDI with 260,000 miles. There is no power when accelerating and it's very slow to change gear upwards, and sometimes refuses to change upwards at all. The maximum amount of revs is 3000-3500. I have changed the air flow meter on two occasions, as well as the transmission oil and filter. The problem is slowly getting worse. Sometimes when I disconnect the air flow meter it improves performance somewhat, for a period of time.

I think it's time for you to accept that the car has done its job and the time has come to get rid of it. Reconditioning the autobox alone will cost far more than the car is worth and the engine must be close to the end of its days.
