Is it possible to convert a diesel to run on LPG?

I need a car to tow a 1500kg caravan and have always thought a diesel was the answer. However due to the current anti-diesel climate, what car will be best for the next few years? Would converting a diesel car to autogas.LPG be a solution for me? What problems would that create?

That can't be done. Diesels can be run on CNG, but not LPG, and the UK does not have a network of CNG fuel stations. Petrol engines are now improving enormously and the range of high torque small capacity petrol turbos is rapidly increasing. Hybrids such as the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV do well.
