Does the BMW 118D have a sensor light problem?

Can you tell me if there is a problem with sensor lights on the BMW 118D? Mine is eight months out of warranty and I have the DTC and DSC light illuminated on the dashboard. I rang BMW and they say it can cost up to £400 if it's a blocked valve, plus £100 to do a diagnostic check. The dealership said they have had five returned.

Yes. It's a problem with a sensor. BMW sensibly adopts a repair rather than replacing the entire ABS/ESP module, and that's why it costs £400 rather than the £1500 - £2000 it can cost on a VAG car when little or no goodwill is forthcoming.
