Could you recommend a petrol towcar to replace my diesel Hyundai ix35?

I tow a 1500kg caravan with a diesel Hyundai ix35 2.0 4WD. I have already experienced an EGR problem which culminated in a frightening journey with the caravan. I have been considering petrol alternatives, which appear few. A salesman is pushing a SEAT Ateca 1.5 TSI 150. I always consider cubic capacity a must with towing, and although engines are changing I just think this one would be working too hard. Perhaps the KIA Sportage GT 1.6 turbo petrol would be good. Do you have any advice? I tow about 3000 miles per year, with a further 9000 mainly motorway miles.

I'd go for the KIA Sportage 1.6 T GDI GT, partly because it has a stronger engine, but mostly because it is four wheel drive and the Ateca 1.4 TSI 150 is not yet available with 4WD, even though a 1.4 TSI 150 AWD is fitted to run-out model Skoda Yeti that are built in the same factory (Skoda builds SEAT Ateca).
