Should I buy GAP insurance with my Toyota Auris Hybrid?

I am due to receive a new Toyota Auris Hybrid next month and the Toyota dealer has recommended GAP insurance, to cover the difference in allowance between the insurance company's valuation and the invoice value if the car is written off in the event of an accident after purchase. They quote £390. Do you recommend this type of insurance and should I consider other insurance companies' rates?

Well done. Good buy. But check what an independent insurance broker can do the GAP insurance for - it could be half or less than half what the dealer is charging.
