Why won't Volkswagen contribute to repairing an ESP/ABS fault on my EOS?
We have a Volkswagen Eos Sport 2-litre TDI purchased in March 2007. The vehicle is used as a second car and has done 19,000 miles only. The ESP fault light has come on permanently and the Volkswagen dealer has told me that, as the ESP unit is built into the ABS, the whole unit needs replacing at a cost of over £1000. Volkswagen are refusing to assist with this cost because they say we have not carried out the services at the correct intervals. The first service was carried out in Jan 2009 at 10,000 miles and the second service has just been carried out at in Aug 2010 at 19,000 miles. I service on mileage and not dates. This surely cannot have affected the ESP system. Can I can apply pressure on Volkswagen to help with the cost?

This is a least the 200th email on this subject I have answered. If Volkswagen has refused then your only alternative is ECU Testing (www.ecutesting.com/vw_golf_touran_abs_pump_module....l) that does a £150 kit to fix the sensor fault. Costs about £300 for the whole job.
