My two-year-old Peugeot 307 has a major clutch problem. What should I do?

I bought a two-year-old Peugeot 307 in July 2009. It came with six months' warranty left and they gave me an extra six months, which obviously has recently run out. I recently noticed a strange vibrating when I pressed the clutch, which was shortly followed by a high-pitched squealing noise from beneath the car. I didn't drive it for a few days and when I finally did, it started again. I took it to three different garages and they said straight away its the flywheel. The last one said it wasn't urgent and he suggested just driving it.

Three days later the clutch pedal came back to the floor and I was stuck in first gear, so I got it to the supplying dealer. They suggested not driving it home and leaving it there at a charge of £30 a night and the earliest they could look at it was almost a week later. He did suggest it was the hydraulics. I got it towed back home and it's now outside, totally unusable. Has anyone else has similar problems?

Yes, probably a failed dual mass flywheel. The only chance of any goodwill towards the cost is if the Peugeot dealer replaces it. But that's a gamble, because if there's no goodwill they will be a lot dearer than someone like Mr Clutch.
