Ford Fiesta - V5 Address and insurance claim - Bally99
I moved house a few years back and totally oblivious forgot to change my address in a different city on the V5.

The car is taxed and insured.

I had an accident and the car is written off.

The car is insured at the correct address.

Will the wrong address on the v5 void the insurance or the write off payment?

Thanks

Ps the new people in the old house still forward post so no fines have gone to the wrong address.

I doubt it.

The policy address and therefore the risk/premium were presumably correct.

If the insurer tried to void the claim based on a genuine error from which no advantage accrued I think you'd have a strong case for the Ombudsman.

Thank you so much, perhaps I am over worrying!

They have offered me £3k on receipt of the v5.

On WBAC they would offer £6k for the same car and the exact one on Autotrader is £8k.

Should they pay more for the write off?

Time to argue IMHO. Insurers are meant to return you to your situation before the write-off, which normally means the cost of buying an 'identical' vehicle (give or take). You may have the option of keeping the car and having it repaired, but their payout will be less. £3K looks to me too little for either option.
