Mitsubishi L200 Barbarian SVP launched at CV Show 2017
Mitsubishi has kick-started its Special Vehicle Projects programme at the CV Show 2017 with the launch of the L200 Barbarian SVP. The eye-catching pickup will be limited to just 250 examples and start from £28,479 before VAT.
Available to order now, the one-tonne pick-up gets a number of notable enhancements over the standard L200, with 17-inch black alloys, extended wheel arches and matte black roof rails. Inside the Barbarian's standard leather seats are finished with suede-like inserts, with SVP logos in the headrests, while each model is individually numbered to reflect its limited run-out.
The L200 Barbarian SVP is inspired by the bespoke off-roaders that will be built as part of Mitsubishi’s newly created Special Vehicle Projects programme. As a result, it gets a number of off-road enhancements, compared to the standard Barbarian L200, with the most notable being the BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres.
In addition to the SVP makeover, the L200 also gets all of the Barbarian's standard equipment, which includes navigation, electric door mirrors, rear-view camera and DAB audio. The load bed also features a plastic cover, along with load lighting and soft-opening tailgate.
Powered by Mitsubishi’s most-potent 2.4-litre turbodiesel, linked to a six-speed manual or five-speed auto, the four-cylinder unit will produce 180PS and 430Nm of torque. All versions get four-wheel drive as standard, which means they will easily carry one-tonne payloads and also be capable of towing up to 3.1 tonnes when connected to a braked trailer.
