New Volkswagen Caddy confirmed for 2020
Volkswagen has teased the new Caddy in a series of official sketches. The new small van will go on sale in mid-2020.
The new Volkswagen Caddy van is expected to be based on the mechanical underpinnings of the existing model, but feature some notable upgrades in styling and spec.
In addition to the panel van, Volkswagen has confirmed that 2020 will also see the launch of a new Caddy Life passenger variant.
The sketches point towards a sporty stance, with larger wheels and a narrower radiator grille at the front. LED lights could also be fitted as standard, with slim line LED brake lights framing the van’s rear window. The 2020 Caddy will be available in two wheelbases and is expected to provide up to 4.2 cubic metres of loadspace and a maximum payload of over 700kg. All vans will be able to accommodate a Euro pallet via the side sliding door.
Volkswagen hasn't released any details about engines or fuel economy, but the 2020 Caddy will most likely retain its 2.0 TDI turbodiesel engine while power outputs will range from 75PS - 150PS. However, with Volkswagen launching its I.D range in 2020, the Caddy could also get an all-electric powertrain.
The Caddy will get a comprehensive array of options, with the highlight being Volkswagen's latest touchscreen infotainment and navigation. That means the cabin will have very few buttons, with range-topping models getting a 10-inch touchscreen and full compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
