Volkswagen Amorak receives Bluemotion updates

Volkswagen's popular Amarok has received a raft of upgrades to accompany the introduction of Bluemotion Technology to the range. Its BiTDI engine has been boosted from 160 to 177bhp, and towing weights have risen across the range – from 2800kg to 3000kg for manual models, and 3200kg for the new eight-speed version. Prices for the updated Amorak start from £19,795 (plus VAT).

The Bluemotion Technology package mirrors that used on the passenger car models. So you get low rolling resistance tyres, driver-selectable Stop/Start and regenerative braking. According to official figures, the Amorak is 3.9% more economical than before, with a combined fuel consumption of of 37.2mpg. CO2 output also drops – from 209 to 199g/km.

Equipment levels are boosted, too – Bluetooth, front and rear parking sensors, heated washer jets, tachograph preparation, cornering fog lights and 19in alloy wheels are now all available. The automatic 177bhp BiTDI Amorak is available exclusively in Highline trim with BlueMotion Technology and permanent 4Motion for a retail price of £25,105 (plus VAT). Manual models are available in Startline, Trendline and Highline trim levels and the entry point is £19,795 (plus VAT). The 2.0-litre TDI 120bhp continues, starting at £18,795 (plus VAT).

The Amorak with Bluemotion Technology is on sale now.
