Aircon fan has a mind of its own on my 3 Series

The fan goes on and off for no apparent reason on my BMW 3 Series. The final stage resistor has been changed and when working the fan goes at different speeds.

Well given that you have replaced the "hedgehog" (FSR),we would suggest that you check the condition of your battery.

If it is below par then BMW have a fail safe system so that if the battery voltage drops below 11.5v then it will shut down non essential parts, ie heater fans/electric seats/demisters etc.

It may be worth while checking the battery out.
