Is there a 4WD van available?
I'm a self-employed gardener and occasionally I need to drive up rough tracks to my work sites. I have a 2004 Peugeot Partner 2.0-litre HDi van and I would like to buy something similar but with four-wheel drive. However, apart from ads I've seen for rare old 4WD Kangoos, they seem unavailable. The hulking pick-ups & Defenders favoured by farmers are just too awkward for me in terms of tool storage, loading and security, let alone the running costs. Any suggestions?

You can get a Peugeot Partner or Citroen Berlingo with 'Grip Control', which is an electronically controlled differential combined with 216/60 R16 Mud + Snow tyres and offers ‘standard’, ‘snow’, ‘all terrain’, ‘sand’ and ‘ESP off’ settings, so these should get you anywhere a part-time 4WD can go.
You can also get aftermarket 4WD conversions for bigger Ford Transits and Renault Masters and, a couple of months ago, I drove a factory-converted 4WD Mercedes Sprinter bus over the 4x4 course at Millbrook.
