The Volkswagen Multivan line-up has been bolstered by the announcement that a 2.0-litre 150PS diesel has joined the range. It is priced from £44,410 for a standard wheelbase model in entry-level Life trim.
The Volkswagen Multivan competes with rivals such as the Peugeot Traveller, Vauxhall Vivaro Life and the Mercedes-Benz V-Class.
As you’d expect, the new diesel is Euro 6D compliant so it is exempt from the higher taxing regime aimed at high-polluting diesels and is also free from paying charges like London’s ULEZ, which could expand to cover the whole of the capital by 2023.
A 58-litre fuel tank gives the diesel Multivan a range of 620 miles, while it can carry a payload of up to 807kg and pull a trailer weighing up to 807kg. A 360Nm torque rating means shifting heavy loads should be effortless, while the standard seven-speed DSG gearbox takes the pain out of town driving.
Life models come with kit such as seven seats, a ten-inch infotainment screen, reversing camera and active cruise control that can brake and accelerate the car for you on the motorway and A-roads. Opting for the long-wheel-base version brings the price up to £46,100.
Take a step up to more luxurious Style trim and you’ll pay from £54,950 in short-wheel-base form or £56,300 for the long-wheel-base variant. Style models add kit such as electrically operated rear side and boot doors, heated front seats and a heated windscreen, a digital dashboard display and a leather-trimmed steering wheel with gearbox paddles.
The 150PS diesel joins a range that includes 136 and 204PS petrol as well as a 218PS petrol-electric plug-in hybrid.
