The Ford Transit Custom is the best all-rounder in my opinion. Both the 2.2 and 2.0-litre diesels are excellent and most vans will carry over 1.4 tonnes when it comes to payloads. Choice on the used market is also plentiful: vans.honestjohn.co.uk/van-reviews/ford/transit-cus.../
The latest Volkswagen Transporter T6 is another one to add to the list. It’s more expensive than the Ford, but more refined and gets lots of kit as standard: vans.honestjohn.co.uk/van-reviews/volkswagen/trans.../
