What do you think of converting a Ford Transit Custom into a campervan?
I have a short wheelbase Volkswagen T5 campervan, but need something slightly larger with a high roof. I fancy a long wheelbase Ford Transit Custom. Transit did have a reputation for rust, so I would value your opinion on a LWB Custom as a choice for conversion.

The Ford Transit Custom is a very good van, but somewhat susceptible to rusting rear hinges. It's an easy fix, however, with regular checks and a spray-on rust inhibitor. We’ve also had reports of some teething issues with the Euro6 2.0-litre engine, which means a Euro5 van might be a safer bet for a conversion.
There are lots of vans on the market and you can you can afford to be picky when it comes to buying used. That means clean bodywork and a full service history. Ideally, it should have been serviced every 10-12,000 miles or 12 months and have a folder full of receipts to show any work that’s been undertaken.
