Ford Transit Connect (2014 - 2024)
ECOnetic 210 MWB 1.5 100
fairly good van with good spec ,,,engine and gearing not suited to uk roads
received my van in june 2023 ,,,lost a few extras compared with the 2014 van that i pxed for it ,,,,no loadspace charging point and no drivers binacle cubby ,,,infotainment has improved and adblue with this van
firstly the improvement in mpg over the previous van is markedly better ,,easy motorway 60ish driving is a real 54-56 mpg which for a van topping 2000kg with me in it is excellent ..van will do 600 miles to every single tank ..driven in london it still gets low 50s ,,,reverse camera and sensors help work very well ,,aircon ice cold ,,,fords heated screen is quick and easy to use
the downsides well the seat definitely has less padding than the 2014 version,,,aches on long journeys are guaranteed ---- the front body coloured bumpers are VERY prone to stone chips ,,first chip scored the paint after less than 300miles ,,20k miles later there is more than 10 separate chips ,,,very soft paint that was the same with the 2014 version in fairness
my mine gripe is with the engine and gearing of the van ,,,5th and 6th gears are VERY long geared ,,almost impossible to climb hills without dropping a couple of gears,,the engine has very low torque that seems spread out over too long of the rev range ,,,engine always feels flat as a pan empty or full, and makes driving in traffic when you need to nip about difficult ,,,,,recently drove a 100 bhp berlingo that had a much better engine but slightly worse economy ,,, it drove nicer than the ford although with a lower spec ,,,wished i had tried one of these last year lol
