I'm looking to buy a used van. Would you choose a Ford or a Volkswagen?
We are in the market for a new company van and have the option of a 2014 Volkswagen Transporter or a 2015 Ford Transit Custom. Which van has better build and reliability as a used van? I've heard complaints of complex sensor problems on the Ford. Also, even though it'll be a work van, I feel long term value will be higher on the Volkswagen.

I would probably go with the Ford. It'll be cheaper to service and maintain. It also has less reported problems than the T4 Transporter. The long term residuals will be stronger on the Volkswagen though. Both the T5 and newer T6 have strong followings with VW enthusiasts. They also are also popular with campervan buyers, which means converters are always snapping up the best ones on the used market (which strengthens values).
