Toyota unveils new range-topping Hilux Invincible X
Toyota has added a top-of-the-line Hilux to the range, called the Invincible X and priced from £23,842 not including VAT. The order books are open now, for first deliveries this month (February 2015).
Mildly ironically, Toyota has gone positively MINI with the Invincible, offering a relative smorgasbord of personalisation for its flagship pickup: four 17-inch alloy wheel designs, four seat leather colours, chrome side bars with or without steps, and a choice of either a hi-over bar or a Style Pack, which includes a silver colour under-run, aluminium scuff plates, chrome door handles and other chrome exterior bejazzlement. But very unlike MINI, all that choice is included in the list price.
Standard kit includes climate and cruise control, sports seats, tinted windows, automatic headlights, a reversing camera, heated door mirrors and a Bluetooth-enabled touchscreen multimedia system.
Double Cab only, the Invincible X is powered by a 167PS 3.0-litre D4-D diesel engine, with a five-speed manual gearbox standard or an optional five-speed automatic.
Toyota is no doubt hoping that throwing the proverbial at the Invincible will tempt buyers away from the brand new Mitsubishi L200, which is being shown for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show.
