Volkswagen launches new entry-level ID.BUZZ Cargo

A new entry-level version of the Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo has joined the electric model’s line-up, priced at £35,960 + VAT.

The new model is only offered in base Commerce trim, has a 59kWh battery and offers a WLTP range of 200 miles, making it a quirkier and more prestigious rival to models such as the Vauxhall Vivaro Electric and Peugeot e-Expert.

Equipment levels are pretty generous despite being the entry model, with LED headlights, a heated driver’s seat, front and rear parking sensors, 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and multiple USB-C ports.

As with all Volkswagen ID.Buzz models, it has a 692kg total payload and a cargo volume of 3.9 cubic metres, plus twin sliding side doors, LED load bay lighting and a wood-panelled floor.

Its onboard charger allows it to take power at speeds of up to 165kW from an appropriate DC rapid charger, meaning it can go from 5% to 80% capacity in as little as 30 minutes with the right charger. A home charge from empty to full takes just over five hours.

Customer deliveries begin in April.

What are the speed limits for small vans?

I am thinking of changing from our ageing Citroen C3 Picasso to either a Citroen Berlingo or Peugot Rifter. I don't want to get caught by van speed limits though and it's hard to find clear info. What are the speed limits for these types of vans?
Although both of these are small vans and the Citroen Berlingo is also sold as a passenger car (to which car speed limits apply) the van versions are registered as commercial vehicles and must adhere to van speed limits – namely 50mph on single carriageway roads, 60mph on dual carriageways and 70mph on motorways when the national speed limit applies.
