New Volkswagen Caddy priced from £13,500

The updated Volkswagen Caddy will cost from £13,500 excluding VAT when it goes on sale later this month. That gets you the C20 Startline short wheelbase model powered by the 75PS version of the 2.0 TDI engine which replaces the 1.6 TDI from the outgoing Caddy.

Standard equipment on all models includes electric windows, heated and electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a five-inch touchscreen Composition Colour radio system with DAB+, Bluetooth and a lockable glovebox.

Driver and front passenger front, side and curtain airbags are fitted on all vans as is a new post-collision braking system.

There are three trim levels – Startline, Trendline and Highline – all available in short wheelbase or the longer Maxi wheelbase. The Maxi version has a load capacity of 4.2 cubic metres while the standard wheelbase model offers 3.2 cubic metres.

At launch there will be a choice of three versions of the 2.0 TDI engine which is Euro 5 compliant. The entry-level model has 75PS plus there are 102PS and the top 150PS model.

Trendline models start at £15,670 and add full wheel covers, body coloured bumpers, handles and wing mirrors, rear parking sensors, cruise control, a multi-function display, driver’s lumbar support, under-seat storage and sun visors with vanity mirrors.

At the top of the range is the Highline trim from £16,650, which comes with alloy wheels, front fog lights and daytime running lights, Climatic air conditioning, heated front windscreen, automatic dimming rear-view mirror and a Thatcham category 1 alarm.

A BlueMotion model will be introduced later this year and thanks to fuel saving measures returns a claimed 65.7mpg with CO2 of 114g/km.
