New Volkswagen Transporter T7 shows its face

The all-new Volkswagen Transporter T7 has broken cover in readiness for the full production reveal of the new van at the IAA Transportation Show in Hannover on September 16, 2024.
It’s the latest iteration of VW’s best-selling and most critical van, but for the first time in the brand’s history the Transporter has been developed in conjunction with another manufacturer.
The newcomer shares much of its underpinnings, bodywork and interior with the latest Ford Transit Custom, but with a more rounded front end that lends it a more familiar VW appearance.
Set to be offered with two body lengths, versions of the Volkswagen Transporter T7 with the standard-height roof will be under two metres tall, allowing access to most garages and multi-storey car parks.
With a wider load bay than the outgoing T6 VW Transporter and room for two Europallets inside, the standard-length model boasts a 5.8-cubic metre load volume.
As well as a panel van, the T7 will be available as a Kombi crew van and a nine-seater Shuttle.
Inside, the latest Transporter will feature a 12-inch digital instrument panel and a 13-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.
Wireless phone charging, keyless start and advanced safety systems, including lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition are also on the VW's equipment roster.
Three diesel engines will be offered with the VW Transporter T7, with power outputs of 111PS, 150PS or 170PS.
Like the Ford Transit Custom, the Volkswagen will also be offered as a plug-in hybrid known as the eHybrid as well as a fully electric model — the Volkswagen eTransporter.
It will be offered in 136PS, 217PS and 285PS outputs, with its 64kWh battery promising a range comfortably in excess of 200 miles.
First deliveries of the new Volkswagen Transporter T7 will be in early 2025.
