Great Wall Steed launched

Great Wall Motor Company became the first Chinese automobile manufacturer to commence volume sales in the UK, following the launch of the Steed pick-up at the Commercial Vehicle Show.

The Steed is a robust and practical pick-up that offers value for money. Prices start at just £13,998 (CVOTR) for the Steed S model – the lowest for any double-cab pick up in the UK. With a 2.0-litre diesel engine, six-speed gearbox and selectable-on-the-move two/four-wheel drive, the Steed also has the lowest insurance ratings of any vehicle in the pick-up segment. .

The Steed goes on sale through a brand-new, nationwide network of 40 Great Wall dealers. Hand-picked to reflect the brand’s values and philosophy, the dealers have promised standards of customer service that will break new ground in the pick-up market. Group 7 Insurance and Thatcham 1A security.

March 2013

Special edition Tracker and Chrome models launched

The Steed Chrome gets chrome side bars and sports bars, chrome fog-lamp surrounds, chrome rear-lamp finishers, stainless-steel door entry guards, an over-rail bedliner, tinted windows, metallic paint and carpet floor mats.

The Steed Tracker promises to be the perfect outdoor companion, with additional equipment including special fit General Grabber All-Terrain Tyres, an over-rail bedliner, a towbar with audible monitor, front and rear mud flaps, rubber mats and metallic paint.The Steed also got an uprated towing capacity of 2,500kg (braked) and a 1,050kg maximum payload.

Great Wall Steed revised

Prices for the new Great Wall Steed start at £14,998 (CVOTR) for the Steed S model increasing to £16,998 for the top-of-the-range SE. It has a premium of £1000 over the old model, but Great Wall says the 2015 Steed is packed with more practical, standard features.

The vehicle retains its chunky looks, but now with a slightly sleeker profile with the side indicators incorporated into the door mirrors instead of the front wing. The Steed is available in Titanium White and three metallic colours (optional at extra cost) – Pearl Black, Sky Silver and Noble Grey. The Tracker special edition will be available in Titanium White and Noble Grey.

Inside, higher quality materials, such as that used on the seat facings and a sharper, and a more contemporary design for the instrument cluster, create a more comfortable and ergonomic feel to the cabin. New technologies include a multifunction rearview mirror with automatic dimming and an outside temperature display. A tyre pressure monitoring system is also incorporated which will display the working pressure for each tyre.

For 2015, the Steed is also equipped with rear disc brakes replacing the old drum units to increase stopping power and stability.The 2015 Steed uses the same free-spinning 2.0 Litre diesel as the previous model, now certified to comply with Euro 5 emission regulations.
